BMW i5 Ministry of Environment re-certification, “driving range increased by 75 km”
The Ministry of Environment's mileage recertification for the BMW i5, which was launched in the domestic market last October, has been completed. The BMW i5 is a full-change electric vehicle model of the 5 Series, with an increase of 75km compared to the existing certified range, and as a result, the maximum driving range was certified as 459km.
BMW completed mileage certification from the Ministry of Environment around July, before the launch of the i5. At the time, the certified driving range on a single charge was 384km based on the BMW i5 eDrive40 model. Considering that it was equipped with an 81.5kWh capacity battery, it was somewhat lacking compared to competing models.
However, the wheels installed at the time of certification were 21-inch wheels, which did not apply to domestic specifications, and were measured. The newly measured mileage certified by the Ministry of Environment was measured by installing 19-inch wheels, the main wheel size, on the i5 eDrive40 model, and as a result, the mileage was significantly improved.
The driving range of the newly certified BMW i5 eDrive40 model is up to 459km (462km in the city, 455km on the highway) at room temperature and up to 361km (310km in the city, 423km on the highway) at low temperature.
The Ministry of Environment-certified mileage of the top model, the BMW i5 M60 xDrive model, is 361 km. This model was also measured based on 21-inch wheels, and if it is re-certified as a domestic specification with 20-inch wheels, the driving distance is expected to increase slightly.
The New i5, the first purely electric model in the BMW 5 Series, is a rear-wheel drive model equipped with one electric motor. The BMW i5 eDrive40 has a maximum output of 340 horsepower and a maximum torque of 40.8 kg·m, and accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 6 seconds. .
The top model, the BMW i5 M60 xDrive, which boasts the most powerful performance, is equipped with two electric motors and produces a combined maximum output of 601 horsepower and a maximum torque of 81.1 kg·m. It only takes 3.8 seconds to accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h.
Meanwhile, the price of the BWM i5 is 93.9 million won to 101.7 million won for the i5 eDrive40 and 138.9 million won for the i5 M60 xDrive.
